DESCRIPTION:August\nGUIDED HIKING PROGRAM \nNaturalist Hikes at China Camp\nLearn about the abundant wildlife in the area. \nSee stunning vistas. \nGet Outside and exercise by the glittering bay.  \nJoin us for a guided hike at China Camp\, lead by naturalist Harold Hirsch. These weekend hikes range from easy to advanced\, from 1.5 to 6 miles. Please wear layers and good hiking shoes. Bring appropriate hiking gear\, water\, snacks\, sunscreen and a hat. \n\n\n8/3 Back Ranch Meadows Entrance Gate– 9:30am: Intermediate\, 3 miles\, 400 ft elevation gain. Meet at the entrance gate by the guard kiosk. \n8/17 Knight Drive Trailhead-  9:30am:  Intermediate\,  3 miles\, 100 ft elevation gain. \n8/24 China Camp Village– Heritage Day Festival Hike- 1:00 pm: Intermediate\,  3 miles\, 100 ft elevation gain.\n8/31 Beechwood Ct & Heartwood Ct. Please stay tuned for future children’s events.\n\nAugust 17th\nChildren’s Storytime\n with the author! \nYao Bai and the Egg Pirates\n  \nBring the kids to China Camp for a night of local history\, storytelling and fun! Children will learn about the fascinating history of China Camp and hear the fictional story of Yao Bai\, a Chinese boy who lived at China Camp during the California Gold Rush when food supplies were in short supply due to demand by the huge numbers of miners. To find food\, Yao and his family members sailed out to the Farallons to gather seabird eggs to sell.  But there are–and were–pirates about! Join New York Times Bestseller Tim J. Myers’ as he reads from his book Yao Bai and the Egg Pirates.
