DESCRIPTION:September\nGUIDED HIKING PROGRAM \nNaturalist Hikes at China Camp \nLearn about the abundant wildlife in the area. \nSee stunning vistas. \nGet Outside and exercise by the glittering bay.  \n\nJoin us for a guided hike at China Camp\, lead by naturalist Harold Hirsch. These weekend hikes range from easy to advanced\, from 1.5 to 6 miles. Please wear layers and good hiking shoes. Bring appropriate hiking gear\, water\, snacks\, sunscreen and a hat. \n\n9/7 Back Ranch Meadows Entrance Gate– 9:30am: Intermediate\, 3 miles\, 400 ft elevation gain.\n9/14 Knight Drive Trailhead-  9:30am:  Intermediate\,  3 miles\, 100 ft elevation gain. \n9/21 Turtleback Trailhead–  9:30am: Easy\,  3 miles\, 50 ft elevation gain.\n9/28 Beechwood Ct. & Heartwood Ct. Did you know thousands of migratory Vaux’s Swifts funnel into the old chimneys at McNear’s Brickyard\, right here in San Rafael? Would you like to know when the height of the mating and pupping season is for the Northern Elephant Seal? Join Naturalist and Educator\, Sharon Barnett on a journey through the seasons to discover local natural phenomena.   \n Well known to children as “Sharon Heron”\, Sharon has taught environmental education for over 20 years in Marin and internationally.
