SUMMARY:Birding Walk
DESCRIPTION:American wigeon by Jerry Coe\, FOCC volunteer\nOne of the season’s most exciting times is upon us—the fall migration. More than half of all North American birds migrate south between September and November\, and about 250 migratory species travel through Northern California. This month we’ll look for fall arrivals\, such as American widgeons\, Baird’s sandpipers\, yellow warblers. \nBirding expert Jerry Coe will share information about China Camp’s varied habitat: open bay\, tidal wetlands\, grassland\, and oak-and-bay forests dotted with pockets of redwoods. \nSpace is limited; registration is required. \nDate: Saturday\, September 21\nTime: 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.\nMeeting location: Turtle Back Trailhead\nDifficulty: easy 1.5 to 2-mile walk\nCost: free to FOCC members; $5 donation appreciated for non-members\nAges: 10 and older; under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult \nReserve Now
