Join us for an invigorating dusk hike to watch September’s full moonrise! Known in the U.S. as the “Harvest Moon,” this full moon falls closest to the fall equinox. Its extended moonlight once helped farmers bring in the autumn harvest.

We’ll also celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, or Moon Festival, as earlier residents of China Camp village likely did. While we wait for the moon, we’ll share colorful festival legends and sample traditional moon cakes.

As dusk falls, we’ll climb through oak and bay laurel woodlands, pausing for sweeping views of San Pablo Bay and keeping watch for swifts, owls, and other evening wildlife. Then, at 6:53 p.m., we’ll watch the Harvest Moon rise over the bay, bathing the landscape in its golden glow.
