2019 Earth Day Open House! 

China Camp State Park

On Saturday, April 13, volunteers will come together to make a difference in state parks across California for our annual Earth Day celebration! Register below to join us for special volunteer projects focused on climate resiliency or join the new family-friendly open house event!

Come to an open house: China Camp is one of five State Parks across California that will be expanding our Earth Day celebration to include an open house. In addition to offering volunteer activities, we will be offering guided hikes, museum tours, arts and crafts, games, and much more for the whole family!

Sign up to volunteer: Help complete essential projects and critical maintenance to support climate resiliency. Volunteer projects include brush clearing to reduce fire risk, invasive plant removal, beach cleanup, and split rail fence repair and make our parks cleaner, healthier and more accessible to all.

Volunteer Schedule:

9:00 am- 9:30am: Volunteer Registration & Refreshments

9:30am-11:45am: Split into work groups

-Split Rail Team @ Campground parking lot; (park in en route parking lot). Ages 16+, (15 people max)

– Invasive Broom Removal @ China Camp Village . Ages 10+, (30 people max.)

– Coastal Trash Cleanup @ China Camp Village. All ages, (25 people max)

– Brush Clearing @ Campground parking lot; (park in en route parking lot) Age 12+ (30 people max)

Noon: Free Lunch at China Camp Village

NOTE: For all volunteer events, please bring filled water bottles and work gloves.

9:00 am – 2:30 pm Open Registration & Open House Activities at China Camp Village

Scheduled Activities

(NOTE: hikes and activities will be on a first come, first served basis. Please come early to sign up!)

9am Bilingual Nature hike in Spanish with Naturalist Marco Berger (All Ages, 30 people maximum) [9 – noon] (please email chinacamp.programs@gmail.com to register) 

10:30am: Turtleback walk with National Estuarine Research Reserve w/ Sarah Ferner (All ages,       20 people max); [10:30-11:30am] Begins at Turtleback Trailhead

Noon: Lunch, welcoming announcements & speakers presentation

11am, 1pm, 2pm: Docent led Museum tour (All Ages,15 people maximum).

12:30-2:30 Wildflower Hike with naturalist beginning at the Village (all ages, 25 people maximum)

12:30- 1:30pm Mini soccer relays (ages 6 and up) 

1:00pm-3pm Birdwatching (in English) with naturalist Jerry Coe (Ages 12+,  20 people maximum) Begins at Miwok Meadows

3:00pm  End of Event
