Give-Back Morning at China Camp

May 15, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us for a morning of making the park look beautiful. There’s always plenty to do—trail grooming, fence mending, log splitting, litter pickup, and so much more. Join us and make a difference! No previous experience needed. Difficulty ranges from easy to a good work out. No long-term commitment required—but we hope you come again!

If you are volunteering as a group of 5 or more, please contact our team coordinator at kjsmead@comcast.net. This helps us plan for tools and supplies.

Cancellations will be posted on our events calendar.

Location: The maintenance area next to China Camp Ranger Station (101 Peacock Gap Trail, San Rafael)

Time: Meet promptly at 9 a.m.

What to bring: Bring work gloves, filled water bottles, and a brown bag lunch to share with your fellow volunteers at China Camp Village after the event (one beverage courtesy of Friends of China Camp). Long pants, long-sleeve shirt, sturdy hiking shoes or boots, sun glasses or other eye protection are recommended.

Ages: Ages 14 and up (minors ages 14 to 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian).

NO REGISTRATION NEEDED… JUST SHOW UP!

Smoke Advisory: A series of intermittent pile burns are scheduled to begin at China Camp State Park on the McNears Service Road as early as Wednesday, January 22, 2025, or shortly thereafter, depending on weather conditions. All burning depends on weather and air quality conditions that are favorable for smoke dispersal. If conditions are not conducive for safe burning, the burns will be rescheduled.

For more information please visit California State Park’s Bay Area District’s Prescribed Burn Program Website or email bayareanaturalresources@parks.ca.gov.
