Junior Ranger Program
March 16 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Birth of the Bay
In this fascinating and fun program, Junior Rangers will uncover the mystery of how San Francisco Bay came to be. Our educators will take little ones on a magical journey back thousands of years, to a time when the San Francisco Bay was a grassland river valley. Back then, the region was home to roaming herds of 13-foot-tall Columbian mammoths and giant camels.
How did these grasslands become a sprawling bay filled with animals? What mysterious forces formed China Camp’s present-day shoreline and tidal marshlands, and how did it happen? We will explore answers to these questions and more as we explore China Camp’s shoreline. Dress in weather-appropriate clothing and bring snacks, water, a smile, and a spirit of adventure.
