SPECIAL EVENT: Owl meet-and-greet and presentation
February 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Whooooo wants to learn more about owls? If you give a hoot about these spectacular (mostly) nocturnal raptors, mark your calendar for a very special afternoon event at China Camp.
All About Owls, a nonprofit based in Petaluma, will bring two of their “ambassador owls” to this event. We’ll meet Gazeau, a female great horned owl who, fell from her nest in Oregon when young, permanently injuring her right wing. We’ll also meet Buho, a male Western screech owl found in Sonoma. Buho has a damaged optic nerve and permanently dilated pupil that makes it impossible for him to hunt effectively.
Learn more about Gazeau, Buho, and other local owl species and why they are so important in our ecosystem. You’ll also learn what you can do to reduce threats to owls and help them thrive in the wild. Be on time to make sure you don’t miss the owls. Registration is required; location details emailed with registration confirmation.
