New program director joins staff

Emilie Clarke brings ideas and experience to her role

We are thrilled to announce that Emilie Clarke has joined Friends of China Camp as our new program director. This important role means Emilie will handle all the permitting and organization of the dozens of special events that take place in the park year round, including kids’ camps, guided outdoor activities and classes, and private parties and weddings.

Prior to joining the FOCC team, Emilie worked as the Director of Operations for EatLocal.farm, an online farmers marketplace based in Watsonville, CA. For over a decade, Emilie traveled throughout the Bay Area, communicating with local business owners, farmers’ market associations, and organic standards boards, working to increase food education and accessibility throughout California. Emilie also worked in the Horticulture Department at Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA.

Emilie has a special interest in inspiring children and finding ways to bring the next generation to China Camp. Meeting and working with the park’s volunteers is another highlight for Emilie. “Finding out their reasons for treasuring China Camp feels like a homecoming for me,” says Emilie, who used to visit here with her dad. In her spare time, Emilie enjoys hiking with her dog Kava, and playing music, traveling, and wine tasting with her fiancé.
