CANCELED: Full Moon Hike
January 6, 2023 @ 3:50 pm - 6:30 pm
EVENT CANCELED DUE TO PREDICTED STORMY AND OVERCAST WEATHER. CHECK CALENDAR FOR FUTURE EVENTS.
We are howlin’ with joy to welcome the first full moon of 2023. January’s “wolf moon” was named for the howling wolves often heard echoing across snowy landscapes in the dead of winter. This full moon will be slightly smaller since it occurs close to the lunar apogee, meaning it is almost at the farthest point away from the earth as it makes its way around an elliptical orbit. On our hike to view this moon, we will ascend to China Camp’s best vista point for this special event. Dress for the crisp cool late fall nights, wear sturdy hiking shoes (expect the possibility of muddy trails), and pack flashlights loaded with fresh batteries. Strong winds or rain will cancel.
