Wildflower Hike

What is your favorite color? Green, yellow, orange, or purple perhaps? The “pineapple express” storms have brought a world of color to China Camp, as we are now seeing a grand show of wildflowers. Let’s look for our favorites during our upcoming spring wildflower hike. For this difficult, three mile hike, we will explore deep oak and redwood woodlands in search of white stalks of Fremont’s star lily, violet brodiaea, red indian warriors and maybe some early buckeye blooms. Bring a water bottle, proper hiking shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing.

Location: Knight Drive Trailhead

Difficulty: Difficult, 3 miles.

Time:  10 a.m. – noon

Smoke Advisory: A series of intermittent pile burns are scheduled to begin at China Camp State Park on the McNears Service Road as early as Wednesday, January 22, 2025, or shortly thereafter, depending on weather conditions. All burning depends on weather and air quality conditions that are favorable for smoke dispersal. If conditions are not conducive for safe burning, the burns will be rescheduled.
